Oak Branch Woods by Kimberly Shriner

Many of you already know me as the author of the Dream Valley: A Collector's Guide to My Little Pony website. Beginning as a writing assignment in the mid-90's, I now present my first published works of fiction...novels that tell inspiring animal stories bringing to life the rabbits, squirrels, and other creatures in a little forest called Oak Branch Woods™.

Summary: The people and animals of Oak Branch Woods™ return for the second novel in the series. The future of Oak Branch Woods™ is uncertain when previous deforestation causes overpopulation and food shortages, forcing hungry creatures out. Conflicting solutions to population control again place Laura and Jack on opposite sides while equally adverse issues develop within Marissa™'s family regarding the past. Searching for food, Jaya™, a young squirrel, meets Mina™, a lonely widowed squirrel in the neighboring human town, where he finds greater dangers than those he ever faced in the forest.

...It (Jaya and Mina) it is better than the first. I said this once, and I'll say it again: YOU ARE A EXCELLENT WRITER!!! You really are one of my favorite writers now. I hope you write a next book; can't wait! ...The books, I can honestly say, opened my eyes to all the brutality done to animals...if this was one of your goals for your readers, you certainly have succeeded."

"...your story (My Marissa) is wonderful, Kimberly, and your characters are so well developed, so real and so endearing. I'm in love with Marissa and Bobbin...your story is really complex, with so many intertwining storylines, and multiple plots which all come together beautifully...fantastic, Kimberly."
"I am really enjoying reading Jaya and Mina ...I'm so attached to your characters, and your writing makes your world come alive ... it's really good to be able to pick up your book, become engrossed and pulled into another world ... I've always loved the way a good book can do this for me."
