"Beatitude" Music Videos

"Jimmy Jimmy"

The video for the single "Jimmy Jimmy" illustrated Ric's personal frustrations in its video that were present in that song as well as others on the album. But thanks to VH-1, and their refusal to show any rare 80's videos, I have no further information.

The single "Something to Grab For", being a love song, has a lighter atmosphere, and a funny video to go with it. Ric is seen getting ready for a big night out,

trying to look perfect for his date, who is also seen getting ready for the evening. But when he arrived at her house, she's not ready. Ric waits and waits and waits downstairs for her, trying to amuse himself to pass the time. Finally, he appears in her room, and suddenly she's ready to go, as if she's been ready all along. It looks it's going to be a nice evening until we find out that the girl had set Ric up for a fall, and drives away, leaving him standing in the rain. Poor Ric!

"Emotion In Motion"

"I would do anything. . ." 1986. "Emotion In Motion" video.

Ric's the most well-known solo song was the basis for the first video from this album. "Emotion In Motion," depicts an enchanting fairy tale that begins with going on a quest to find

an antidote for his lady love who has taken a bite from a poisen apple. He makes his way through the forest to a hidden cave behind a waterfall, where he must win a sword fight, in order to recover the "magical potion" needed to bring her back to life so they can live happily ever after. This is one of the best-told stories in a music video, like an epic film, but only being four minutes long. Difficult, but not impossible to find, "Emotion in Motion" has been seen once every few months on VH-1 during the run of their "Big 80's" series.

"True To You"

"True To You". 1986. "True To You" video.

The video for "True To You" was directed by Andy Warhol (who also directed "Hello Again"). In it, Ric seems to be trying to find the person he is "true to" while walking down a city street. He tried to post pictures of her that keep falling down and never really ends up with one person in particular. This is a rare video and I have never actually recroded for myself since it's never been on VH-1.checkered flag

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. 1991. Simply Mad About the Mouse, video tape package.

In 1991, Ric Ocasek was one of eight artists appearing on Disney's "Simply Mad About the Mouse" audio and video album, in which they each sang their favorite Disney songs accompanied by elaborate and creative videos. Ric chose "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" and becomes a part of several classic scenes from Disney films including "Fantasia" ("The Pastoral Symphony" and "The Nutcracker Suite"), "Alice In Wonderland," and "Dumbo." Ironically, it shows no actual scenes from "The Song of the South". Other artists in this collection include Billy Joel, Michael Bolton, and Soul II Soul, and more.
