How to Include this Webring on your Web site

First, copy the two (2) images to the right to your local computer; to do this with Netscape Navigator/Communicator, RIGHT-click on the image, and choose "Save Image As..."; other Web browsers should work in a similar manner. Once the image is stored on your local computer, then copy it to your Web server. You should put the image in the same directory where the Web page(s) that you will be adding this Webring will be located. You may put this image in a different directory, but you will then have to edit the HTML code below; if you do not know much about HTML, it would be easier just copying the image into the same directory where your Web pages are located. Then, copy and paste the following HTML code into the Web page where you want the Webring to appear. Be sure to change every occurence of _YOUR_SITE_ID_HERE_ with your site's ID number; this will be provided via e-mail, once your site is approved for inclusion in the Webring.

After doing this, and uploading both the Webring logo and your Web pages to your Web server, everything should be ready. If the Webring does not appear in your Web browser when loading your Web page, try pressing "Reload" or "Refresh".

If you are having difficulties with the HTML, please make sure you have (or HAVE NOT done the following). ANY changes from the original HTML could cause an invalid fragment in the Webring AMS report:

  • Make sure you HAVE....

-Placed the HTML fragment on the MAIN page of your site.

-ONLY used the MLP Ring of Rainbows "logo" and "next" pictures (Do NOT use your own)

-Edited your site info if your site has a new name, URL, or you have a new e-mail address (so you can receive e-mails from Webring).

  • Make sure you HAVE NOT...

-Included YOUR name and e-mail in the HTML (i.e. "This site is owned by (your name/e-mail)"

-Changed the HTML in ANY way except in adding your site ID number.

The Webring checker is operational! If you receive an e-mail stating that your site contains a bad HTML fragment, it will automatically be removed from the ring, so not to cause a broken ring. This ring is also manually checked every few months. Be sure your URL is up-to-date. Any dead links (with no working e-mail address) will be removed without notification to the owner.
