Spring Festival
The Little Ponies are all happily preparing for their annual Spring Festival. They're setting up games, putting out food, and Baby Lickety-Split is practicing her routine for the Baby Ponies' dance number with Spike. Everyone in Ponyland is celebrating the end of winter and welcoming the new spring season...except up in the Black Mountains. In the Volcano of Gloom, Hydia, an evil witch can't stand another minute of the Little Ponies having so much fun. She hates how they always ring in spring reminding her how beautiful Dream Valley has become ever since the Little Ponies came.
Witches from the Volcano of Gloom
Hydia tries to get her incompetent daughters, Reeka and Draggle to do something, but they could care less. Hydia's tried for years to make them evil like they rest of the family, but if they didn't stop the celebration, they were out.

At the Baby Bonnet School of Dance, the audience gathers to watch the performance of the Baby Pony Dancers. All the Baby Ponies trot out onto the stage and begin a lovely ballet. But soon they're interrupted when Baby Lickety-Split makes a grand entrance wearing a wild outfit and doing her own dance.
Baby Lickety-Split's own dance step
She knocks everyone out of sync and ruins the show. Buttons scolds her, but Baby Lickety-Split can't take it and runs home. Spike follows her when she announces that she's going to run away. She doesn't want him to come with her, but he insists and leaves a note for the Little Ponies. As the Little Ponies continue with the festival, Reeka and Draggle are looking for the perfect spell to make everything "dark, dank, and dreary." When Draggle reads that "dank" means wet, Reeks wants to flood Dream Valley but redirecting the waterfall. But Sunshower and Water Lily see this and cause the spell to backfire on the witches. They go home humiliated.

Buttons scolding Baby Lickety-Split
Baby Lickety-Spilt and Spike run until they reach the edge of a cliff near the waterfall. Baby Lickety-Split thinks she'll be able to fly if she tries, but she and Spike fall in the rocky bottom of the cliff and can't climb out. In Dream Valley, Sundance and Lofty have just found Spike's note and announce that Baby Lickety-Split has run away. Buttons regrets being so harsh with her, but Magic Star decides to begin searching right away with Gusty accompanying her. Shady tags along even thought Gusty thinks she's bad luck. They begin by trying where the Bushwoolies live.

In the Volcano of Gloom, Hydia has had it with her daughters. She gives up on them and decides to pull out the big guns - the Smooze. She once used it to wipe out the kingdom of Grundleland and plans to to the same with Dream Valley. But in order to make the Smooze, Hydia needs Reeka and Draggle to gather the ingredients.
Smooze attacking the Rainbow of Light
But when they read the last item on the list, phlume, they are terrified to go. But this is their last chance - if Reeka and draggle don't came back with every ingredient, they're history. As they start to gather each item, Draggle tries to convince Reeka that she will get everything else, and Reeka only had to get the phlume. Both agreeing to this, Reeka tries to pull the same thing on Draggle. When they discover they can't outmaneuver each other, they split the list and mix all the ingredients together and return home - without the phlume.

As Baby Lickety-Split and Spike try again to climb out, the spot the search party above them. But when try to call to them, the sound of the waterfall drowns out their voices and the search party moves on. Meanwhile, a Bushwoolie pops out from his hole and sees his shadow, knowing it's spring. He calls the other Bushwoolies to come out of the ground.

Gusty's been smoozed!
When Reeka and Draggle return home, Hydia begins mixing the ingredients one by one. Afraid she'll notice the phlume isn't there, Draggle deliberately bumps into her, causing the entire bucket to fall in at once. In the volcano, the Smooze starts to bubble and rise as it's purple ooze and eyeballs build up strength. When it's ready, it starts to flow out of the volcano and heads toward Dream Valley, covering everything in it's path. The first ones to see it are the Bushwoolies who just met up with Magic Star, Shady, and Gusty. They escape it, but Gusty and two Bushwoolies are splashed. On their bodies, the Smooze hardens into a crusty coating that won't come off and that makes the miserable. Magic Star knows all about the Smooze and that the witches sent it, and they return home to warn the others. Shady and the rest of the Bushwoolies continue to search for Spike and Baby Lickety-Split. But the Smooze is already attacking every inch of Dream Valley as it now tracks down Spike and Baby Lickety-Split and seals them inside a cave behind the waterfall. Back at Dream Castle, Magic Star tells everyone about the Smooze, and Wind Whistler and North Star take off to bring back Megan who they know can help.

Getting the Phlume
When Wind Whistler and North Star arrive, Megan's little sister, Molly, and her obnoxious brother, Danny meet them for the first time after hearing so much about them. The two ponies get the Rainbow of Light from Megan, but want her to stay behind because it's too dangerous. But Danny wants to go, and they all end up flying back to Dream Valley. But the Smooze is already there and by the time they get back, the entire valley including Dream Castle and the Lullabye Nursery and buried. Megan tries to use the Rainbow of Light but it's soon enveloped by the Smooze, leaving the ponies homeless and without a weapon.
Paradise Estate
And they can't dig the Rainbow out since the Smooze has hardened. But Hydia can't figure out why the Smooze was temporarily stopped. Forcing Reeka and Draggle to eat ice cream, they admit that they didn't get the phlume. She sends them out to get it this time or else. As Reeka and Draggle approach the fierce phlume plant, they decide for Draggle to hold the plant while Reeka sticks it to extract the liquid. After a struggle, they bring back a bottle full.

Megan refuses to give up hope and decides to go to the Moochick for help. Fizzy and Wind Whistler go with her, even though Gusty and Sweet Stuff, who was just dripped with Smooze, tell them to forget it. When they reach the Mushromp, the Moochick doesn't remember them.
Megan and the Moochick
When he does, they tell him about the Smooze and ask for another Rainbow of Light. He doesn't have one, but offers them a new home. After several attempts trying to figure out what type of home they want, the creates the Paradise Estate, and they love it. Then Habbit reminds him to tell them to seek out the Flutter Ponies, the only ones who can stop the Smooze. He sends Megan and the ponies home with a map of Flutter Valley, but warns them they they may not be welcome there.

Baby Lickety-Split and Spike continue to search for a way out of the cave when they encounter the Grundles. They're afraid of the Grundle's monstrous appearance, but they convince them that they are friends. They help them out, only to find more Smooze, just like the stuff that buried Grundleland and many of the other Grundles. They agree to help them.

Morning Glory out of the well
Meanwhile, Hydia adds the phlume to the Smooze and it comes alive again, stronger then ever. She send it out to cover the rest of Ponyland. But in Dream Valley, the Little Ponies are checking out their new home. Megan, Molly, Danny, Wind Whistler, Magic Star, and Fizzy set out toward Flutter Valley. Hydia sees this and send her daughters to get Aagh to stop them, Hydia's giant one-eyed pet spider.

Smooze is in full force again, first chasing off Shady and a Bushwoolie, and then nearly burying Megan when the ground spits while she and the others cross though the giant sunflowers.
Spiders are ticklish?
Shady and the Bushwoolie meet up with the, and they head into Shadow Forest. While trying to get home, the Smooze attacks the Grundles, Spike, Baby Lickety-Split and Spike - Spike's tail gets smoozed. After going over a waterfall, they make it to land and find a well. Spike encourages Baby Lickety-Spit to make a wish, but when she sings into the well, a voice answers back. They pull up the bucket at a strange pony climbs out. She's small and thin, and has delicate wings. Her name is Morning Glory, a Flutter Pony. To thank them, Morning Glory brings then to Flutter Valley.

In Shadow Forest, Megan and the others just barely make it out, but then entrance to Flutter Valley is blocked by Aagh. Molly remembers that spiders are ticklish, and makes Aagh laugh and get distracted when they all tickle him at once.
The Flutter Ponies stop the Smooze
Danny can't believe it actually worked. The web falls apart, and they make it inside. They meet Rosedust, the Queen of the Flutter Ponies, but when they ask for help, she refuses. Just then, Baby Lickety-Split, Spike, and the Grundles arrive with Morning Glory. Morning Glory convinces Rosedust that they all have to work together and that it's everyone's fight. As the Smooze approaches Paradise Estate, Buttons tries to make everyone believe that the Flutter Ponies are their.
Going home
When they open their eyes they really are there. The Flutter Ponies shift their wings into Utter Flutter and blow back the new Smooze and the witches back to the Volcano of Gloom. They also uncover Dream Castle, the Lullabye Nursery, and the Rainbow of Light. They also blow the Smooze off Gusty, Sweet Stuff, the two Bushwoolies and Spike's tail. The Little Ponies are grateful to them and also to the Grundles; in fact they even give the Grundle Dream Castle to start a new kingdom. Lickety-Split is glad to be back home and Megan gives her the Rainbow of Light to keep in Ponyland. They all say good-bye, and Wind Whistler and North Star take Megan, Molly, and Danny home.
