Year 5 was the last official year for Pony Wear. This year, accessories were introduced to begin to take the place of complete outfits. This year, there were also fun new places to for Little Ponies to go even, however, some of them were hard to find in stores when they were first introduced.

Play 'n Wear was designed be be just like it's name: a pretty outfit to wear and matching accessories for added fun. On the backcard, these outfits were worn by ponies from earlier years (1 though 3) instead of recent ones, as shown in these photos.

For a ski trip, Hit the Slopes! (modeled by Love Melody) includes dark pink ski pants, blue/pink/white/purple patterned hat (w/white trim and purple tassles on top), clear plastic ski goggles (w/purple strap), and a pair of purple (attached) skis. The skis contain a molded foot anchor to hold the pony's back hoof in place. |
Milk 'n Cookies (modeled by Bright Eyes) is perfect for a midnight snack; it includes a printed nightgown and night cap, both white w/yellow trim and decorated with green & yellow sleeping cats, dogs, and teddy bears wearing orange bows (orange dots also cover both pieces). The outfit also comes with a fuzzy yellow blanket, satiny yellow pillow, white cup (not shown), and a white cookie plate of (tan; looks like oatmeal) cookies. |

For skateboarding, there's Sidewalk Surfer (incomplete outfit modeled by Tic-Tac-Toe; see above graphic) which includes a shiny red (shimmers in green) dress (w/gold belt & front flap), two gold kneepads (not shown), gold visor (not shown), red headphones (w/raised musical notes on ear phones; not shown), and a red skateboard. Pretty As A Picture (modeled by Mimic) comes with an artist's smock (white splashed w/multicolored paint blobs, blue pants, red beret, four red bow shoes, pallet (white w/various colors of paint), and paintbrush (red handle, silver band, black tip). |

For a vacation, there's Pony Holiday (modeled by Quackers) which includes a yellow w/fuchsia trim floral printed dress (fuchsia flowers w/green centers), straw (natural tan) hat (w/fuchsia band & ribbon), four fuchsia bow shows, and a yellow suitcase. |
Get Into The Groove (modeled by Up, Up, and Away) is great for dancing to 80s music; it includes a one-piece dress (turquoise top w/light green trim; yellow skirt w/green & blue squares), four turquoise socks, four yellow bow shoes, a yellow w/green shapes) hair clip, and a turquoise radio (w/gold metallic strap). |

Costume Wear was a line of glamorous outfits for My Little Pony to wear when they wanted to dress up for a special occasion or adventure.

Rockin' the Night Away (modeled by Bangles) includes with shiny purple shirt (w/rainbow tye-dye collar, periwinkle cuffs, and white trim), shiny periwinkle pants, shiny silver headband (ponytail tie), two shiny rainbow tye-dye gloves, two dark pinkish-purple bow shoes (not sneakers as shown on backcard), and a guitar (white backing, white glittery front w/pink strip, and gold strap). |

In Year 5, two new pairs of Baby Pony Wear With Pocket Pals were added to the first set from Year 4, making a total of twelve outfits. Of course, the new ones each had their own little pals to match the outfits.

The Lion suit with kitty pal (modeled by Baby Crumpet) is a gold costume with a furry orange mane & tail tip that came with a kitty pocket pal (orange w/gold ears, black eyes, pink nose, and drawn black mouth). And the Sleepwear with teddy bear pal outfit (modeled by Baby Fifi) includes an light orange printed nightgown (decorated with blue/orange/purple flowers w/green stems) w/green trim, and green pocket matching nightcap (w/ green tassle), and four fuzzy green slippers. It came with a white teddy bear pocket pal. |
The Elephant suit with mouse pal (modeled by Baby Quackers) is pink w/grey toes and in the insides of the ears and the tip of the tail. It has a lighter pink pocket that holds a grey mouse pocket pal (w/pink ears & nose and black eyes). And the Party dress with puppy pal (modeled by Baby Lickety-Split) is a white printed dress (decorated with pink/blue/purple flowers w/green stems) with a purple bow, and purple pocket. The outfit also includes four dark pink bow shoes a puppy pocket pal (white w/brown ears, nose, and spot over one eye). |

As there began to be less and less Pony Wear, there became a need for fashion accessories. The Pony Packs were four sets of related fashion extras that a pony could wear for dress up. Pony Pack accessories worked best for pegasi (shown below), who could never wear the regular pony wear outfits because of their molded wings, even though they still looked incomplete. Many of these accessories originally came with other outfits, while the others were variations on other pieces. Each Pony Pack came with a brush or comb, listed on the Pony Combs page.

One for fancy dress (modeled by Dancing Butterflies) was made up of a pink jeweled tiara (various shades of pink jewels), jeweled earrings (not shown; white w/pink jewels & pink dangling stone [plastic & non-shimmering]), silver lamé purse, and four rose pink shoes. |

Following Year 4, this year, another Pony Purse was introduced. It was made in the same square shape as the first, but was different in design and color. The main compartment is purple, with a pink & white striped pocket in the front (for a baby pony). The pillow is made from fuzzy white
material with tiny multi-colored stars. The pillow, as well as the top of the main compartment, is bordered with white lace. The inside pocket is white, and the MLP logo is on a white tag with the contents of the bag printed on the back of it. The shoulder strap is not elastic, making it stronger, and unable to stretch out of shape.
The Pony Purse also comes with a new Baby Pony. Baby Crumpet (Earth pony) is yellow with curly (standard-length) gold hair, and blue eyes. She has a First Tooth, and her symbol is a pink teapot (w/dark pink hearts) and matching. Her colors are slightly different from her mother, Crumpet, a So Soft Pony.
Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe
The Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe is a place where Little Ponies could go to have a sweet snack. The white slipper-shaped shoppe is decorated with molded lace and heart-shaped windows as well as pink hearts that line the toe area. Inside, there are full-color decals that decorate the walls and accessories. Closed, the playset can be carried by the pink bow on top. Open, the shoppe is divided into two sections.
The area behind the counter has a solid pink floor is separated from the dining room with a half-length yellow gate. The yellow counter is not attached to the shoppe, and on each side, there is a large mint green swirl ice cream cone. Decals include a countertop mat and shelf below. Other behind the counter decals include a two tables displaying ice cream and cake.
The dining room has a pink & white checkerboard floor (on a pink base) with four yellow & mint green heart-shaped lights lining the top of the back wall. The room contains a round yellow table (w/napkin decals),
and yellow two chairs (wire-look back). Wall decals include ice cream cone table and topping stand. Treats include three solid-colored mint green ice-cream sundaes and three floats. There's also a two-sided yellow specials board (w/decals).
Taking your order at the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe is Scoops (Earth Pony). She is a Twice As Fancy Pony with a symbol of pink & purple tall ice cream sundaes all over her body and one sundae under her right eye. She is white with (straight, standard-length) purple hair and pinkish-purple eyes. She wears a white/pink/purple striped apron and matching hat (w/purple ribbon ties). She also came with a comb and hair ribbon.
Scoops and the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe appeared in the episode, "The Ice Cream Wars".
The Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe was re-issued, unchanged, in Year 6.
Perm Shoppe
The Perm Shoppe (UK name: Crimp 'n Curl Hair salon) is a luxurious Beauty Salon where Little Ponies could go not only to get their hair permed, but to also try out new hair accessories and make-up. The Perm Shoppe is shaped like a dressing table and opened up and inside were lots of things to keep ponies beautiful. The walls and outside (or the skirt) are yellow with a pink door and windows (with heart design and comb-shaped shudders). The base and roof (or table top) are pale pink. On the top, is a removable heart-shaped mirror. The roof, mirror, and and inside wall have raised flower, bow, and heart designs. Around the edges of the salon are strands of white lace, attached by five pink bows on each side. Full-color decals decorate the wall main wall and some accessories. The Perm Shoppe's main feature is a working shower pump over, that you fill with water and wash a pony's hair using the pale pink spray nozzle. This is located in the middle, over the pale pink vanity with removable mint green sink. Your pony sits on (or rather, straddles) a mint green salon chair; vanity and chair can be placed on an oval pink base. A mint green towel bar (with two pink cloth towels hags over the nozzle.
Other accessories include: a mint green counter with shelves (w/decals), pink cash register (w/decals), pink wall shelf (w/decals), mint green beauty supply cart (w/pink wheels and removable pink tray), and pink ribbon rack. The Perm Shoppe also came with several hair and make-up accessories including two bow-shaped barrettes (yellow & rose pink), two flower-shaped barrettes (mint green & purple), two thin purple hair ribbons, two wide orange hair ribbons, pink smock, six purple curlers (three large & three small) kept in a pink wall shelf, pink mesh cap (to hold curlers in place on a pony's head) mint green eye shadow compact (with three colors: blue, pink, green), two eye shadow wands, flower brush, and original comb. Finally, the Perm Shoppe came with a bottle of a hair curling solution called Fifi's Fashion Foam. After washing a pony's hair and putting it up in curlers, you could spray the fashion foam on her hair, and it would dry curly.
Fifi (Earth pony) is the special Little Pony who came with the Perm Shoppe. She is a Twice as Fancy Pony who is white with (straight, standard-length) blue hair, and turquoise eyes. She has a symbol of pink bows all over her body and one smaller pink bow under her right eye.

The Perm Shoppe was re-issued, unchanged, in Year 6 and was one of the hardest items to find during its time.
