Aside from the Butterfly Island collection, several other sets of ponies are part of 2005. Made up mainly of reissued ponies and exclusives, there are also some new faces including a new Perfectly Pony set, playsets and accessories. This line also features the newest pony poses.
Note: The 2005 MLP page is incomplete until further notice.
These twelve beautiful ponies make great personalized birthday gifts for anyone or a lovely complete set for collectors. Following the 80s monochromatic Birthflower Ponies and more colorful Australian versions, Jewel Birthday Ponies are the most unique yet. Each pony has a round birthstone-colored jewel in the center of her Cutie Mark with hair to match the color (with iridescent tinsel). They come in a variety of 2003 poses (still exclusive to Jewel Ponies), also with varying body and eye colors. Each Pony has a special story about how she celebrates her birthday and their boxes are decorated with balloons and confetti. They each come with a brush with the raised flower design, and are worth 2 Pony Points each.

January Joy (Birthstone: Garnet), who always has an ice-skating party, has a white (non-pearly) body and dark red hair (very much like Moondancer's unique hair color). Her Cutie Mark (right hip) jewel is red (with a white border), on top of a light blue party hat (with gold trim), in front on a light blue & gold party favor (blow-out). Red swirls and gold confetti pieces surround the design. Her heart (left hoof) is dark pink. Her eyes are blue with lighter blue highlights and white hearts. Her brush is white.
Fantastical February (Birthstone: Amethyst), who always has an ice-skating party, has a pearly light pink body and purple hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) jewel is dark magenta (with a pink border) as the center of a pink flower, surrounded by light red hearts and pink swirls. Her heart (left hoof) is light red. Her eyes are blue with lighter blue highlights and white hearts. Her brush is pink.
March Mischief (Birthstone: Aquamarine), who once made a cake literally with whole eggs, has a pearly pink body and blue hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) jewel is dark aqua (with a yellow border) on top of a steaming pink (magenta-outlined) cup and saucer. The design is over a yellow circle with smaller circles above the cup. Her heart (left hoof) is light light. Her eyes are blue with lighter blue highlights and white hearts. Her brush is purply-pink.
April Mist (Birthstone: Diamond), who who loves to get flowers, has a pearly purple body and white hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) jewel is clear/colorless (with a white border), set in the middle of an two-tone yellow-striped umbrella with pink trim and a pink bow on top. Her heart (right hoof) is white. Her eyes are blue with lighter blue highlights and white hearts. Her brush is purple.
May Belle (Birthstone: Emerald), who has piñata at her parties, is has a pearly medium pink body and dark green hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) jewel is dark green (with a white border) as the center of a pink/white/purple flower, with a green & yellow stem, plus two tiny flowers. Her heart (left hoof) is green. Her eyes are green with lighter, yellow-green highlights and white hearts. Her brush is pink.

June Blossom (Birthstone: Alexandrite), who has woodland picnic parties, has a pearly light yellow-green body and aqua hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) jewel is aqua green (with a white border) as the head of a butterfly with pink wings (decorated with yellow & aqua flowers) and aqua body and antennae. Her heart (right hoof) is aqua. Her eyes are sea green with lighter sea green highlights and white hearts. Her brush is yellow.
July Jubilee (Birthstone: Ruby), who loves balloons, has a pearly medium pink body and dark red hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) jewel is red (with a white border), on top of a red & magenta raspberry with green leaves (white-outlined) and white flowers with red centers. Her heart (left hoof) is red. Her eyes are blue with lighter blue highlights and white hearts. Her brush is pink.
August Breeze (Birthstone: Peridot), who has a beach party, has a pearly light cerulean blue body and light green hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) jewel is light green (with a light green border), on top of an orange shell (dark blue outline) with a yellow flower center, and two small flowers on the sides. Her heart (right hoof) is pale green. Her eyes are light green with pale green highlights and white hearts. Her brush is bright blue. Note: When I opened August Breeze, she had that 'new pony' scent (familiar to us 80s MLP collectors)...I never noticed this when I opened any other G3 ponies, including carded ponies!
Sweet September (Birthstone: Sapphire), who makes her own invitations, has a white (non-pearly) body and bright cerulean blue hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) jewel is dark blue (with a white border), on a round pink background, surrounded by five white, navy blue-outlined flowers with pink

October Dreams (Birthstone: Tourmaline), whose party goes all day, has a pearly sea green body and dark pink hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) jewel is pink (with a pink border) as the center of a flower with long, dark pink petals, surrounded by a pink scalloped design. Her heart (left hoof) is dark pink. Her eyes are light purple with pink highlights and white hearts. Her brush is mint green.
November Nights (Birthstone: Topaz), who prefers a quiet celebration with close friends, has a pearly light purple body and gold hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) jewel is gold (with a white border) as the center of a flower with small, white petals and sea green leaves (with pink swirls and white dots on each side). Her heart (left hoof) is gold. Her eyes are sea green with lighter sea green highlights and white hearts. Her brush is light purple.
December Delight (Birthstone: Turquoise [faceted stone symbol looks more like blue topaz, December's alternate birthstone]), who has a midnight sledding party, has a pearly light greyish-purple body and blue-green (more blue than aqua) hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) jewel is light blue (with a white border) as the center of a blue bow with a dark purple outline. Her heart (right hoof) is light blue. Her eyes are blue with light blue highlights and white hearts. Her brush is light greyish-purple.
Following the 2004 Target Exclusive Easter Egg Ponies are another set of three in late Winter 2005 (Easter was in March). Like last year, each pony is packaged on cards with egg-shaped bubbles and Easter eggs added to the usual flowers designs, as well as marked with "Target Exclusive" stickers, and still not named as a group on the package. Each pony is wearing different Easter or Spring accessories on bother her head and tail comes with a brush with the raised bow design. Each Easter Pony is worth 2 Pony Points (worth 3 in 2004). Though not marked on the individual cards, the outer crates were labeled as 'Easter Egg (Excl Asst)', this set properly known as Easter Egg II.

Skedoodle, who once wore her bunny ears backward to a parade, has a pearly yellow body with pink, light purple, and magenta hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is three Easter eggs, all decorated in various pastel colors and designs (stripes, flowers, polka dots), all in front of a pink circle. Her heart (left hoof) is pink. She has lavender eyes with a dark pink highlight and tiny white dot. Skedoodle is wearing a fuzzy pink rabbit ears (with white insides) and a pink bow on her tail. Her brush is yellow.
Daydreaming Yesterdaisy has a pearly light purple body with pink & white hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a white daisy (pink outline) with a green stem, beneath a yellow sun and two white clouds (blue-outlines). The heart on her right hoof is light pink. She has lavender eyes with a pink highlight and light pink star. Yesterdaisy is wearing a hat with a pink-and-white brim on top and a pink/dark pink floral pattern (green stems) on a pale yellow background underneath. The top of the hat is divided into four sections with both patterns. She has a bow on her tail made of the same floral material and pattern on her tail. Her brush is light greyish-purple.
Lolligiggle, who once sat on her bunny tail...ouch!, has a pearly pale pink body with light yellow and magenta hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a medium pink plush bunny (dark pink accents) hopping (indicated by white trail behind it), surrounded by two yellow flowers with dark pink centers and outlines. Her heart (left hoof) is medium pink. She has light purple eyes with a dark pink highlight and pale green heart. Lolligiggle is wearing fuzzy yellow rabbit ears (white insides) and a fuzzy white cottontail. Her brush color is pale pink.
An unusual place to find new ponies, the Spring 2005 Avon catalog (Campaign 7) features two sets of adult and baby ponies, exclusive to Avon. Each pair is $9.99 and comes with a brush with the raised bow design (matching the body color of the adult pony) and two sheets of stickers (they look like the ones that also came with specially packaged ponies in 2004, with pictures of ponies, hearts, MLP/Pony logos, and bugs). In the catalog that came with my order, their names are reversed, although I have seen ads with the correct names. The ponies come in clear plastic bags, marked with each pony's name.

Jazz Matazz (adult) has a pearly light pink body with light yellow, dark pink and medium green hair. Her mane contains two streaks of the yellow and pink, but only one green streak in the center. Her tail is a mix of the three colors. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a bright pink & white trumpet, surrounded by pink & sea green musical notes. She has dark blue eyes with a light blue highlight and pink stars. The heart on her left hoof is bright pink.
Wave Catcher (baby) has a white (non-pearly) body with light yellow and light orange hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a yellow & orange sun behind a blue & green wave. She has dark blue eyes with a pale blue highlight and yellow stars. The heart on her left hoof is yellow.
Jazz Matazz & Wave Catcher come with a pale pink brush. Stickers are as shown; I don't know if they vary with each order. Later in 2005, these ponies were also sold online at Overstock.com.
Peach Surprise (adult) has a pearly dark purple body with medium green, light orange, and light yellow hair (in many alternating streaks in her mane and a mix in her tail). Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is an orange peach (darker outline), sitting on a pale yellow abstract surface with a yellow butterfly above. She has light yellow green eyes with a light yellow highlight and pink hearts. The heart on her left hoof is light yellow.
Tea Lily (baby) has a pearly yellow body with medium green and dark pink hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a white lily (green outline) with a bright pink stem reaching up over it. She has dark blue eyes with a light blue highlight and brownish-gold stars (?metallic). The heart on her left hoof is green.
Peach Surprise & Tea Lily come with a light purple brush. Stickers are as shown; I don't know if they vary with each order.
Released a little later than sets of "regular" ponies usually are, this Perfectly Pony set finally started showing up in small quantities in stores including Wal-Mart in Spring 2005 after a brief appearance in late 2004 in Target. Like most similar sets, each pony is either a Glitter Celebration (tinsel in hair) or Rainbow Celebration (multi-colored hair), noted below. Some are in new poses. They each come with a brush with the raised flower design, and are the first ponies to occasionally come with the newer Butterfly Island booklet.

Sweet Breeze, who makes perfume, has a pearly pink body with white, medium (cerulean) blue, and light blue hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a white smiling cloud blowing two yellow & green flowers, surrounded by white breezes. Her heart (right hoof) is light blue. She has green eyes with a yellow-green highlight and pale blue heart. Her brush is pink. Sweet Breeze is one of four ponies pictured on the My Little Pony checks, address labels and other products available from Image Checks.
Magic Marigold, who does magic tricks, has a pearly light pink body with yellow, white, and coral hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a purple & white top hat with three yellow & orange marigolds popping out of it. There are also dark purple & white sparkles surrounding the hat and a magic wand behind it. The heart on her left hoof is purple. She has pale green eyes with a pale yellow highlight and light pink star. Her brush is pale pink. |
Heather Winds, who loves camping, has a pearly light magenta body with light purple hair (with iridescent tinsel). Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a three light green stems (with tiny pink/purple flowers), blowing in the wind with a pink & white butterfly with a trail of white swirls. She has light blue eyes with a lighter blue highlight and dark pink dot. Her brush is dark pink.Also listed but not pictured in the booklet are two other ponies named Pineapple Paradise and Love Wishes. Pineapple Paradise later became the name of Sunny Scent Pony (Set Two), however, the name Love Wishes is already the name of the Sparkle Pony offered in the Pony Points Program. It is unknown whether this will be the same pony.
I found the first of this collection of baby ponies all by herself in Target (I found the second two weeks later in this same situation!) - packaged on a tiny card, and with one of those big "Target Exclusive" stickers. I don't know how many ponies are in the set or if they carry a certain theme as of yet, but there are at least two, and they are the first baby ponies to be sold by themselves (without adult ponies). There are no pictures of the pony on backcard; the single baby pony is worth one Pony Point (Frilly Frocks). They each come with a sun hat and a brush (w/raised bow design).

Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a light red heart with three cookies (two round, one star-shaped; various colors and designs). Her heart (right hoof) is light red. She has light blue eyes with a medium blue highlight and light yellow heart. Her brush is yellow. Butter Drop is wearing a plaid sun hat (with earholes) in yellow, dark pink, orange, and white.Penny Candy has a pearly purply-pink body with dark pink, white, and light pink hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is two candy sticks (one red, one blue; with yellow swirls), three wrapped candies (blue, red, yellow), and a sheet of candy buttons (red, yellow, blue on white paper). Her heart (left hoof) is yellow. She has blue eyes with a lighter blue highlight and light yellow star. Her brush is pink. Penny Candy is wearing a dark blue sun hat (with earholes) with yellow, purple, green, and yellow flowers and dots.
Between the two baby ponies, they are making rainbowberry fudge and candy necklaces!
