The secluded Butterfly Island first featured in
"Dancing in the Clouds" is now the theme of a special collection of 2005 ponies. Their packages are dark orange, descending onto the original reddish-pink, but with a unique swirl pattern in place of the original gingham background. The boxes also have a bright orange rope on the carry handle, and have an amusement park/beach backdrop inside. Each box tells of a perfect day on Butterfly Island - the most magical place of all. There are both new ponies and reissued ponies in sets that include Dazzle Bright Ponies, Shimmer Ponies, Seaside Celebration, and more, plus playsets and accessories. This line also features the newest pony poses.Note: The Butterfly Island Pages are incomplete until further notice.

These bold two-colored ponies have 'super-shiny hair', according to their boxes, with metallic tinsel in their manes and tails. Some of these ponies are in new poses, others are not, and none-pearly bodies. They each come with a brush with the raised flower design, and are worth 2 Pony Points each.

Waterfire, who reads at the beach, is medium blue with bright orange hair (with red tinsel). Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a yellow/gold/red flame abo4ve two light aqua ripples. Her heart (left hoof) is gold. Her eyes are dark blue with a double two-tone blue highlight and a gold and red flame (a shape unique to her). Her brush is bright blue.
Shell-Belle, who collects shells, is pinkish-purple with light green hair (with turquoise tinsel). Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is two shells (light yellow & turquoise) and a white piece of coral (w/green specks). Her heart (right hoof) is light yellow. Her eyes are turquoise with aqua highlights and light yellow dots. Her brush is medium pink.
Fizzy Pop, who loves fireworks, is dark purple with dark pink hair (with dark pink tinsel). Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is an ice cream soda (pink/blue glass) with two straws and a yellow heart on each side. Her heart (left hoof) is bright pink. Her eyes are blue with lighter blue highlights and pink stars. Her brush is dark purple. Fizzy Pop is one of four ponies pictured on the My Little Pony checks, address labels and other products available from Image Checks.

Island Rainbow, who loves to swim, is light orange with light pinkish-purple hair (with purple tinsel). Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a palm tree (green & brown) on a green grassy island (surrounded by blue water) and a rainbow (blue, pink, yellow) reaching up to a white cloud. Her heart (right hoof) is pinkish-purple. Her eyes are light blue with sea green highlights and yellow stars. Her brush is peachy-orange.
These next two ponies are not pictured in the Butterfly Island booklet, but are listed as "Also available", and are available in most stores including, Wal-Mart and Super Target. Also note that these two ponies have the new Frilly Frocks points on their boxes, whereas the four others have the original Pony Points.
Flippity Flop, who flies a kite and water-skies at the same time, is yellow with dark pink hair (with dark pink tinsel). Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a pair of hot pink flip flops with blue straps and yellow flowers, surrounded by blue grains of sand. Her heart (left hoof) is dark pink. Her eyes are light blue with sea green highlights and dark pink stars. Her brush is yellow.
Strawberry Reef, who gets to the beach way too early, is pink with bright red hair (with red tinsel). Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a strawberry (dark pink w/green stem and white flowers) and a white & blue piece of coral and three blue bubbles. Her heart (right hoof) is blue. Her eyes are yellow-green with pale yellow-green highlights and dark pink stars. Her brush is pink.

Though noted for their "Dazzling Cutie Mark", it seems to me that their name would refer more to the ponies' tropical, neon colors, in the style of Year 8's Tropical Ponies. Each pony has a non-pearly body with multi-colored hair (streaks in mane; mix in tail), and are in both new and old poses. Their Cutie Marks have a subtle glittery coating on the symbol only, not the surrounding hip area. Each pony come with a brush with the raised flower design, and is worth 2 Pony Points each.

Silly but sensitive Kiwi Tart is bright yellow with bright red, pale yellow, and yellow-green hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a slice of pie with green & yellow filling, white whipped topping and a green kiwi slice (and yellow object) on top. It is outlined in pink and four pink dots surround the slice of pie. Her heart (right hoof) is bright red. Her eyes are bright green with a double light green and yellow highlight and pink dots. She comes with a yellow brush.
Volleyball-loving Beachberry is medium pink with pinkish-red, bright orange, and light purple hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a double flower; purple & light green petals in back, orange petals in front, red center (yellow & white outlines). Her heart (left hoof) is light green. Her eyes are purple with a double green and pale green highlight and dark pink stars. She comes with a pink brush. Beachberry is the first pony in this new pose.

Seaspray, who gives boat rides, is medium blue with light yellow, aqua, blue, and purple hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a beige & orange sea star, outlined in turquoise, surrounded by white bubbles. Her heart (right hoof) is pale orange. Her eyes are turquoise with a lighter turquoise highlight and pale orange stars. She comes with a light turquoise brush. Beachberry is the first pony in this new pose.

These next two ponies are not pictured in the Butterfly Island booklet, but are listed as "Also available", and so far, have only been found in a few stores. Also note that these

Coconut Cream, who gets sick on roller coasters (but rides them anyway!), is white with a pink, yellow, and green mane, but only yellow and pink in her tail. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a pie (dark pink base, beige top with pink sparkles & white swirls) in front of a yellow-green boomerang-shaped background. Her heart (right hoof) is pink. Her eyes are light green with pink highlights and light aqua dots. She comes with a white brush.
Ribbon Wishes, who makes jewelry out of shells, is deep mauve pink with purple, aqua, and bright blue hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a magic wand (purple outline) with a pink handle, blue star topper and aqua ribbon on a round pink background with white stars. Her heart (left hoof) is blue. Her eyes are blue with aqua highlights and pale pink stars. She comes with a medium pink brush. |
Sunny Scent Ponies were some of the first of the later Butterfly Island ponies released in Summer 2005 and pictured in the second Butterfly Island booklet. Sunny Scent Ponies smell like island scents, indicated by a sticker of the object on the box and because of the unsealed boxes (as well as the tiny hole in the plastic), you can smell them before they're open. This set also features one of G3's first Pegasus ponies (new pose also), the wish-granters of Butterfly Island with their own story on the back of the box (as well as a mention on newer Earth pony boxes). Sunny Scent Ponies have non-pearly bodies with two-tone manes and solid-colored tails that match the first color in the mane (closest to the forehead). Each pony comes with a brush with the raised bow design and is worth 2 Pony Points (Frilly Frocks). |
Coconut Grove (Pegasus), who loves to plan dinner parties, is coconut scented. She has a pinkish-purple body (small molded wings are the same color) with a dark purple and green mane and a dark purple tail. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is two coconut halves (brown & white) with two green leaves and three purple & white flowers. Her heart (left hoof) is dark purple. Her eyes are green a lighter green highlight and pink hearts. Her brush is pink.
Tropical Surprise, who always wears flowers, is flower scented (as indicated by a flower sticker shaped like her symbol). She has a sea green body with a bright green and bright blue mane and a bright green tail. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a three yellow-orange & orange rounded flowers and two-tone green leaves. Her heart (left hoof) is yellow-orange. Her eyes are blue with a lighter blue highlight and light green stars. Her brush is blue-green.
Citrus Sweetheart, who gets to the beach before sunrise, is orange scented. She has a white body with a bright orange and yellow mane and an orange tail (her tail is shown yellow on her box). Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a whole orange and an orange slice with green leaves and orange blossoms. Her heart (right hoof) is orange. Her eyes are yellow-green a lighter yellow-green highlight and orange dots. Her brush is white.
Apple Spice, who planted the orchard on Butterfly Island, is apple scented. She has a yellow body with a bright red and light purple mane and a bright red tail. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a bright pink apple and two tiny purple flowers, surrounded by white sparkles. Her heart (right hoof) is bright pink. Her eyes are purple with a pale purple highlight and green stars. Her brush is yellow.

Dream Design Ponies arrived in Summer 2005, pictured in the second Butterfly Island booklet. They have raised Cutie Marks made up one large piece and a smaller, raised center. The symbol is also accented by painted designs on the pony's one hip. Each pony comes in bright colors with a single hair color with iridescent tinsel and the group consists of three earth ponies and one pegasus (with molded wings, noted below). They each come with a raised flower brush and are worth 2 points (Frilly Frocks).Island Delight (Pegasus), who is always searching for new friends, has a medium purple body and bright cerulean blue hair (colors are much brighter than in the photo!). Paradise Palms, who prefers to nap under palm trees, has a bright blue body and yellow hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a raised white flower with a yellow center, with painted thin light green leaves. Her heart (right hoof) is yellow. Her eyes are light green with a lighter green highlight and yellow dots. Her brush is bright blue.Seascape, who paints portraits of Butterfly Island, has a bright orange body and bright red hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a raised yellow sun with a round orange swirl in the center, in front of a painted blue swirl. Her heart (right hoof) is yellow. Her eyes are blue with a light blue highlight and yellow stars. Her brush is light orange.

This very special pony was donated by Hasbro and given to those who attended the second annual My Little Pony Fair on July 8-9, 2005 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, including staff and special guests (thanks to Jen and the rest of the Fair staff for inviting me as a guest speaker!) Bay Breeze is packaged in a clear bag with a paper that has her story on it (like the Pony Point mail order ponies). I'm not sure if or when she will be released to the public.
Bay Breeze, who loves to explore underwater, has a white (non-pearly) body with light pink, yellow, and blue hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is raised, which makes her similar to a Dream Design Pony. It is a two-tone pink flower on top of a painted blue swirl, surrounded by tiny blue dots. Her heart (left hoof) is light pink. Her eyes are blue with a pale pink highlight and yellow dots. |
The second set Dream Design Ponies appeared in late 2005 in limited locations, not pictured in any Butterfly Island booklet. Released so late and with the early coming of the Crystal Princess collection, this set of Dream Design ponies seemed to disappear quickly. Like the first set, they have raised Cutie Marks made up one large piece and a smaller, raised center. The symbol is also accented by painted designs on the pony's one hip. Each pony comes in bright colors with a single hair color with iridescent tinsel and the group consists of three earth ponies and one pegasus (with molded wings, noted below). They each come with a raised flower brush and are worth 2 points (Frilly Frocks).Summer Berry, who grows a variety of berries for baking, has an indigo blue body and bright pink hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a raised bunch of round dark pink berries and sea green stem/leaves in front of a painted yellow circle and tiny white dots. Her heart (left hoof) is yellow. Her eyes are yellow-green with a yellow highlight and pink stars. Her brush is indigo. |
Beachcomber, who searches for treasures on the beach, has a pink body and dark pink hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a dark pink tropical flower with a yellow piston and painted sea green swirls. Her heart (right hoof) is sea green. Her eyes are sea green with pink highlights and yellow dots. Her brush is pink.
Cloud Climber (pegasus), who soars high above the rainbow, has a white body and dark purple hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a raised pink, purple, and aqua butterfly and painted purple-outlined clouds and an aqua trail. Her eyes are blue with a dark purple highlight and pink stars. Her brush is white.
Desert Palm, who makes hats, has a yellow body and dark aqua hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is two raised aqua palm trees (w/yellow coconuts), in front of a solid white circle and three open circles. Her eyes are yellow-green with a blue highlight and pink hearts. Her brush is yellow.Note the yellow 'BONUS PONY' stickers on these two boxes, as all four individual Dream Design Ponies were temporarily removed from store shelves, such as Toys R Us and Wal-mart, just before Christmas, but soon returned repackaged in packs of two with each other (TRU), with set one Dream Ponies (TRU), or with set one Sunny Scent Ponies (Wal-mart) in various combinations. The trick was waiting on or exchanging unopened ponies until you could get two you needed for the price of one! The second set of Sunny Scent Ponies came out in late 2005, and disappeared as quickly as they appeared. They are not pictured in any Butterfly Island booklet, however, a notable pegasus Thistle Whistle had already been featured in two MLP videos. Three are scented the same as three of the first set, the only scent not being repeated was apple, which was replaced with pineapple, and indicated by a sticker of the object on the box and because of the unsealed boxes (as well as the tiny hole in the plastic), you can smell them before they're open. They also have non-pearly bodies with two-tone manes and solid-colored tails that match the first color in the mane (closest to the forehead). Shy but helpful Thistle Whistle (pegasus) is coconut scented. She has a blue body with a bright red and yellow mane and a bright red tail. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is three dark pink flowers (w/green leaves) with a bee flying above with a purple trail swirling around three smaller pink flowers. Her heart (left hoof) is dark pink. Her eyes are light green with a yellow highlight and pink stars. Her brush is light blue.
Champion surfer Tangerine Sunset is orange scented. She has a light orange body with a medium pink and bright orange mane and a bright orange tail. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is
a red & dark pink setting over blue waves behind a half tangerine. Her heart (right hoof) is yellow. Her eyes are blue with a pink highlight and yellow hearts. Her brush is light orange.
Lavender Lake, who likes to nap on the beach, is flower scented (as noted by the pink flower shaped sticker on her box, like her symbol). She has a purple body with an aqua and dark purple mane and an aqua tail tail. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a light pink flower (pointed petals) in front of a aqua swirl with a tiny aqua & yellow butterfly (and purple trail) above. Her heart (right hoof) is light. Her eyes are blue with a lighter blue highlight and pink dots. Her brush is pinkish-purple.
Pineapple Paradise, who hosts ice cream socials, is pineapple scented. She has a mauve-pink body with a yellow and bright green mane and a yellow tail. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a tropical drink (yellow liquid in a white-outlined glass with a dark pink umbrella, straw, and pineapple slice--yum!!), a pineapple (tan w/green leaves), and a two-tone dark pink tropical flower. Her heart (left hoof) is yellow. Her eyes are green with a lighter green highlight and yellow stars. Her brush is salmon pink.
