The secluded Butterfly Island first featured in
"Dancing in the Clouds" is now the theme of a special collection of 2005 ponies. Their packages are dark orange, descending onto the original reddish-pink, but with a unique swirl pattern in place of the original gingham background. The boxes also have a bright orange rope on the carry handle, and have an amusement park/beach backdrop inside. Each box tells of a perfect day on Butterfly Island - the most magical place of all. There are both new ponies and reissued ponies in sets that include Dazzle Bright Ponies, Shimmer Ponies, Seaside Celebration, and more, plus playsets and accessories. This line also features the newest pony poses.Note: The Butterfly Island Page is incomplete until further notice.

The Scootin' Along with... collection was one of the earliest sets of Butterfly Island Ponies to be introduced in Spring 2005. With two sets of 2 (second set issued a few months later), as well as a Target Exclusive pony, there are 5 Scooter ponies in all. Each pony comes with a large scooter with a detachable flag, helmet & 4visor, brush, and several small accessories. Pull the scooter back and then watch
it roll! Each pony is worth 4 Pony Points, and do not have individual description on their boxes.
Breezie has a
white (non-pearly) body with yellow & light yellow hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a tree (brown trunk, green leaves, pink blossoms) blowing in the wind (wind is blue swirls, blowing blossoms). Her heart (right hoof) is light yellow. Her eyes are green a double yellow-green and lighter yellow-green highlight and pink stars. Breezie's scooter is pinkish-purple and yellow (purple flower design on front) with aqua handles (light purple & yellow-green streamers) and basket. She comes with a pinkish-purple helmet (with yellow flower and purple arrow design and purple visor),
three-flower flag (yellow-green, purple flowers), yellow-green handbag (w/raised purple flower), purple transparent water bottle, two (attached) yellow-green apples, Ponyville map, and aqua brush (bow design).
Also available: Scooter Sprite (set one), Flitter Flutter (Target), Bumbleberry and Scootaloo (set two)
Seaside Celebration ponies are reissues of three previously-released ponies (some originals more common with others). They are in new poses (all now with non-pearly bodies) and some have dramatic new bold colors (though shown in the booklet in their original poses). They each come with a bathing suit, several beach-related accessories, and a brush (with raised bow design). Each pony is worth 3 Pony Points.

Cherry Blossom, who is planning a costume beach party, is deep magenta with light pink, dark pink, and bright fuschia hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is a group of bright pink cherry blossoms (maroon/yellow centers) with bright green leaves. Her heart (right hoof) is pale pink. Her eyes are yellow-green a double pale green and yellow highlight and pale pink stars. Cherry Blossom wears a neon pink one-piece bathing suit with a light pink triangle-shaped trim. She comes with a dark pink vinyl beach bag (with white flower design), dark pink (clear) bottle, pink cell phone (heart-shaped screen and white buttons), pink butterfly sunglasses, pink fringed beach towel, and pink brush. This now-common version of Cherry Blossom is a far easier to find than the original who was discontinued shortly after her release.

In the UK, each of these ponies was packaged with a baby pony, two of which in the U.S. were individually-packaged Target exclusives. Shown is Surf Star (packaged with Wysteria, thanks to Trisha for photo) who was also issued in the U.S. are one of 3 bonus ponies with the Toys R Us exclusive version of Butterfly Island (Waterfire and Ribbon Wishes were also included, along with Honolu-loo). Surf Star is yellow with pink, purple, and orange hair. Her Cutie Mark (left side) is a blue, yellow, and pink sailboat. Her eyes are purple with a light purple highlight and ?white dot. Her heart is pink. The pink sunhat she is wearing is the same material as Wysteria's bathing suit.

I believe this set of an adult and baby pony is a Target Exclusive, as it is the only store I've seen it as of yet. The ponies and their accessories come in a clear vinyl beach bag with coral fabric handles. Alone, it is a nice bag to carry MLP items or anything else if you remove the backcard. The set is worth 4 Pony Points.Summer Shores (adult), who takes pictures at the beach, has a white (non-pearly) body with dark pink, yellow, and coral hair (looks a little like Sunny Daze). Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is three fish of various combinations of blue, red, yellow, and dark pink. The fish are outlined in purple and surrounded by blue swirls. Her heart (right hoof) is dark pink. Her eyes are dark purple with a pale blue highlight and pale yellow hearts. Summer Shores is wearing a dark pink one-piece bathing suit that tiny yellow dots and yellow bows (w/white dots). She also has a sun hat - half dark pink with large white dots and half yellow with orange specks.Ocean Dreamer (baby), who had her first swimming lesson, has a bright orange(non-pearly) body with yellow and coral hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is one blue-outlined fish (blue, red, and green), surrounded by blue swirls. Her heart (left hoof) is light yellow. Her eyes are mauve with a light yellow highlight and light yellow stars. Ocean Dreamer is wearing a sun hat with only the yellow & orange specks pattern.Their accessories include a pale yellow sandcastle, purple sunglasses (butterfly design, adult pony size), dark pink camera, light pink pale (w/dark pink handle), orange boombox (w/dark pink & yellow features), and a purple brush (raised flower design). |
Hidden Treasures is a beautiful new pegasus pony, and part of a set that includes Butterfly Island accessories and a new MLP story on DVD. Hidden Treasures is pink with a pink mane with a narrow magenta streak in the front; her tail is a mixture of these two colors. She has light purple eyes with a pale pink highlight and dark pink star. Hidden Treasures has elements similar to several different kinds of ponies, including a raised Cutie Mark (like a Dream Design Pony; right hip) consisting of a purple star(?fish) with a small pink jewel in the center (like a Jewel Pony, smaller), and pink and white (painted) sparkles. The entire symbol is coated with iridescent glitter as is her nose (like a Sparkle Pony). Hidden Treasures comes with a treasure chest (orange & dark pink, covered with iridescent glitter) that she can open with her magnetic hoof by touching the dark pink heart on its green shell base. Inside is a layer of clear (colorless) gems. Her smaller accessories include a strand of pale pink beads, dark pink transparent tiara (with an iridescent star sticker), dark pink transparent flower ring, fabric bright pink/orange/yellow flower hair elastic, butterfly barrette (light and dark purple ribbons), and a light pink brush (raised flower design). The set is worth 4 Pony Points.
The 20-minute adventure "Friends Are Never Far Away" is the joining of the Ponyville ponies (Earth Ponies without wings) and the residents of Butterfly Island (pegasus ponies). The two types of ponies had never met with the exception of Skywishes and Star Catcher (as seen in the second MLP story "Dancing in the Clouds"); Pegasus ponies were shy and secretive (much like the G1 Flutter Ponies). The two
friends were meeting secretly, but wanted their other friends to be included in the fun. Though the Ponyville ponies had a hard time even believing in ponies with wings, they were anxious for Skywishes' pegasus friends to visit. But on Butterfly Island, the pegasi were reluctant to leave their secluded home to meet ponies without wings, especially Thistle Whistle (not yet issued), the whistling pegasus who just refused to go to the party. But when the pegasus ponies didn't show, the Ponyville ponies brought the party to them, including a towering ice cream sundae (a pegasus' favorite treat!) Star Catcher and Skywishes were delighted that they were all friends now...we got to see some of the latest ponies including Coconut Grove, Island Delight, Apple Spice, and the baby pegasus Honolu-Loo, but ironically, Hidden Treasures didn't make an appearance. There's also a preview for the next MLP adventure "A Very Minty Christmas," coming in Fall 2005. |
This set of two ponies is believed to be exclusive to Menards hardware stores, as it is so far the only store where they have been found in late 2005. Beach Belle and Caribbean Delight come in a clear butterfly-shaped case, with a pink fabric border (with an iridescent border) and orange handles. The My Little Pony heart logo is in the lower left corner and inside is a beach background, continued on the back (no pony pics or descriptions). The ponies are described/pictured on the case's hang tag. Both ponies have super-long hair and non-pearly bodies, and each comes with a flower brush and beach outfit. The set is worth 6 points (Frilly Frocks).
Beach Belle, who gives late-night beach parties, is blue with dark pink, yellow, and coral hair. Her Cutie Mark (right hip) is three white flowers (orange outlined w/pink centers) with two-tone green leaves. Her heart (right hoof) is pink. Her eyes are green with a light green highlight and pale orange dots. Beach Belle is wearing a white sun dress with large multi-colored flower designs and a sun hat with this same design on top and a blue with tiny white heart pattern inside. Her brush is blue.
Caribbean Delight, who talks to tropical birds, is white with bright green, coral, and dark pink hair. Her Cutie Mark (left hip) is a parrot (difficult to distinguish as its back is a two-tone green heart-shape that also looks like a leaf). Its head and neck is peach/yellow with a closed green eye and pink beak. The parrot is sitting on a pink swirled perch with a tiny pink heart next to it (same design as parrot's back). Her heart (left hoof) is pink. Her eyes are pinkish-purple with a pale pink highlight and pale yellow hearts. Caribbean Delight is wearing a blue wrap with a tiny white heart pattern inside. Beach Belle's hat would also match her outfit.
Her brush is white.
